Incidents last week

08/08/2016 Liphook Near Miss – 1P15 reported a near miss at the London end of the station as the train came around the curve at 90 mph, sounded the horn and one of the group crossed from the 4 foot on the down to the up to a position of safety. The person reached the position of safety approximately 5 seconds before driver passed. This incident was discussed on the Safety Hour last week and is subject to further investigation.
09/08/2016 Pirbright Road Traffic Accident – A Welding Team Leader had a road traffic accident on the B3012, Gole Road whilst driving the works van when negotiating a right turn. The vehicle was travelling at approximately 30mph when the brakes were applied, but the vehicle continued off of the road and into a ditch. The vehicle had not been used for 2 weeks and it was thought that the brakes had failed. Apart from being stung by stinging nettles and being in shock, no injuries were sustained. Work colleagues had been following at the time and chain of care was carried.
11/08/2016 Woking Down Yard A Pway operative was digging in Woking Down Yard with some colelagues. He caught his foot on the bar of a rail and when he returned to the depot he saw his foot was bleeding. No first aid was given on site. He went to a community hospital to have it examined. The cut was cleaned, but the hospital were unable to ascertain if the toe was broken as they do not x-ray toes. No lost time. Golden hour applied.
12/08/2016 Porchester A Havant PWay operative strained a muscle in the left side of his back whilst carrying a section of an Iron man. The operative was assigned light duties for the remainder of the shift and has since resumed normal duties. Golden hour applied.
