05/02/2017 Eastleigh Possession Irregularity Item 49
6Q66 was given authority to enter a T3 possession by the Signaller up to the detonator protection, but the Blockman on site had lifted the protection without authority from the PICOP.
This incident is subject to a Level 1 investigation.
05/02/2017 Brockenhurst Cat A Spad
1J29 (Brockenhurst – Lymington service) passed BH13 signal at danger by 3 coaches after the Driver lost concentration.
Although the Driver had put in the emergency brake, the train triggered the TPWS at 34mph.
It was established that the Driver had lost concentration after the Guard gave the tip to depart which he should not have done, when the OFF indicator was not illuminated.
The Signaller had been holding the train to connect with a late running Bournemouth service.
This incident is subject to further investigation by SWT.
08/02/2017 Eastleigh Staff Accident
A Cable technician had been was removing troughing lids a week ago and had heard his left wrist click. He did not think anything of it at the time, but it had since become swollen.
09/02/17 – The Injured Party had an x-ray which confirmed that nothing was broken.
He resumed duty, but was advised not to carry out any heavy lifting until the swelling had gone down.
