09/10/2017 Sunningdale Staff Incident Rail Testing and Lubrication Section Supervisor reported that an incident occurred with one of his team between 00:00 – 00:30 when 2 buckets of gel were struck by a train.

The buckets had taken out of a van and left on the strail of the level crossing and too closed to the running rail.

10/10/2017 Bournemouth Staff Accident When braking hard to avoid a deer, a vehicle crashed into the rear of the Bournemouth Mobile Operations Managers (MOM) van. The MOM was slightly shaken and experienced pain to his neck and bruising to his chest from the seatbelt. Ambulance staff advised him to rest and if it got any worse, he was to visit the hospital. The Golden Hour was applied and this became a lost time injury.
10/10/2017 Wilton Staff accident (Late report)

A Salisbury MOM felt a twinge in their back on Thursday 05/10/17 at approximately 14:50 whilst lifting a sand bag out of a Hilux van, although continued with their duty.

Over the weekend however; the pain became worse resulting in them visiting the doctor.

The Doctor signed them off for 2 weeks and arrangements were made for an MRI scan.

The injury was a pre-existing condition, that had not been declared.

11/10/2017 Waterloo Possession Irregularity Item 23 Whilst undertaking his duties, the Signaller on Wimbledon Panel 1 noticed that 1566a points for the South Sidings flashing out of correspondence and contacted the PICOP. Upon investigation it was established that they had been operated without the authority of the Engineering Supervisor by a COLAS Points Operator. This incident is subject to further investigation by IP.
11/10/2017 Basingstoke ROC Staff Accident A Controller was adjusting his chair when a plastic handle slipped and trapped his left hand. The skin on his hand was grazed and busied. The Golden Hour was applied and there was no lost time.
15/10/2017 Bedhampton Staff accident A member of Havant PWay injured themselves when using an ‘iron men’ clamp system to move rail. There was more tension in the clamp than normal, the handle slipped from the Injured Party’s hand, spun around and hit his left wrist.

The wrist became swollen and bruised. He visited the hospital and was advised to put a cold compress on the affected area. The Golden Hour was applied and no lost time was anticipated.

15/10/2017 Shawford Staff Accident A member of Eastleigh S&T was adjusting a tubular stretcher bar on 8024 points when the bar gave way suddenly causing his back to give way. The Golden Hour was applied and this accident became a lost time injury.
