HAVS Awareness Brief

Why do we need to brief?:
The law places the following requirements on Network Rail

  • make sure that risks from vibration are controlled;
  • provide information, instruction and training to employees on the risk and the actions being taken to control risk; and
  • provide suitable health surveillance.

Who to brief:
All frontline SM need to brief their employees that use vibrating tools on a regular basis. These individuals are currently identified from certain competencies for vibration tools they hold on Sentinel. If an employee no longer use any of these competencies due to a change in their job role, it (the competency) needs to be removed from Sentinel and the subsequent requirement for briefing will be removed.

HAVS Awareness Brief Instruction:

  1. Please complete the briefing presentation with your employees

  2. It does contain the “bad vibrations” video that can be accessed below or through the presentation.
  3. Once complete, date and sign the relevant briefing sheet and provide back to Competence Delivery Specialist.
